Re: Another position fix from Moon photo

    Hello Modris,

    (1) - In reply to your last post, I have decided to compare our both software on the very same data.

Hence I have used my software to process your own measured stars to Moon Limb angular separations, i.e. :

    HP 21619 : LD far Limb -38.37'

    HP 21482 : LD far Limb -36.47'

(1.1) - Assuming hereby that we both are using a Standard Atmophere and at an Observer's Altitude of 0 m above WGS84 , I am deriving from your measurements N33°20.4'/W112°04.6' .

     "Own" updated position at N33°18.6'/112°01.9'

Our different software are now directly comparable and derive positions only 2.9 NM apart in this quite special and unfavorable environment.

(1.2) - At an Altitude of 300 m above WGS84 (and unchanged Standard Atmosphere) I am deriving from your measurements N33°20.6'/W112°05.1'

This second position of yours is at 0.5 NM from "your" first position here-above.

(1.3) - As we had correctly surmised earlier in Para 3.1 of this post, the effect of the Altitude above WGS84 is quite negligible in this example.

    Best Friendly Multi-Lunarian Regards

    Kermit
