Hello Andrs, and
Hello Paul and Dave,
Yes, Andrs, it will happen that with the quite dramatic recent changes in Astronomical Computations precepts, some software might be lagging behind in terms of being adequately maintained.
For you example, I personnally find results very close from your Meeus determination (21140'8746 or 14h06m43s4984 vs your quoted value of "GAST = 14:06:43.49917" ) which - when compared our the most accurate current determinations (Paul, Dave ..., are U here ? What are your results for Ands'example ? ) - should be accurate to +/- 0.001s/0.015" given the fact that here I am still using the IAU 1984 Computation precepts and sources, and in particular Wahr's Nutation Theory, to their full accuracy however.
As regards the SIMBAD strange results earlier addressed here, I have received a provisional reply from CDS in Strasbourg. They acknowledge some inaccuracy for their SIMBAD results as a result from their recent shift to the HIPPARCOS 1992.25/2007 database because of a now improper Proper Motion Computation. This is right-on where you had pin-pointed it earlier last week, Paul ! It will nonetheless take some time to correct this situation :-((
Best Regards to yourself in particular Andrs, and to all
Kermit
Antoine M. "Kermit" Coutte
