I see 3 celestial bodies in this painting plus a reflected moon and a little bit of horizon. We also know the painting comes from 1896 or earlier and is almost certainly in the northern hemisphere. Any ideas about where the lookout is located or is this hopeless?
The painting is on display until January 19 at the MFA in Boston. Highly recommended!
