The MkIX https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/35521569_a-wwii-air-ministry-mk-ix-bubble-sextant-in-case-with looks interesting. It's a MkIX but verging towards a MkIXA without the clockwork on the front. They've lost the ebonite handles (see mine below) and moved to Bakelite. They've also lost the prism blister on the top (wartime rationalisation to save lenses??), but they've gained an interesting knob on the front cf mine. Mine is 14908/40. It'd be interesting to hear what Paul Brewer has to say about ther knob on the front. Dave
