    Artificial horizon

    Hi Frank,

i was reviewing your notes on modern celnav  and have an artificial horizon. I'm 100 miles inland. I believe dip cancels out with an artificial horizon, but do other factors also change? I know you bundle your factors into one convenient table. Can i use it with height of eye at zero or should i grab my almanac and deal with all factors individually?

second, what types of glass containers did past explorers use to hold their mercury? I'm imagining a sealed bottle with a flat surface that they also used for storage, or was it shaped like the plastic one you buy at celestaire?
