Re saving for a chronometer, noway is it my business to tell the other fellow how/where to spend his money, especially since I wasn't asked for an opinion.

That having been said,I've had a Casio G-Shock "atomic watch" for several years.Bought it at Amazon, and as I recall,the cost was no more than $50,delivered, possibly less.

Looking at Official Time,then NIST/Naval Observatory Time, it's a moving time tic, the watch (digital) and time shown at this web site are, within the limits of observation, in complete agreement. Add to this, other functions in he Casio watch, and it strikes me that the G-Shock watch is a good buy. I have, by the way, no connection with Casio. Your call though.

As to the Astra, I think you will be more than happy with it, despite it being considerably heavier than the Davis Mk.15,which I have used a little. Who knows, but what you might also end up with a larger telescope, the 7 x 35mm monocular offered by Celstaire for instance.
