The kit photo is mine. The 7x scope is good for lunar distance sights or for sun sights to check index error. For regular moon sun or star sights, my side by side comparisons show the 3x scope to be nearly the same accuracy of the 7x. Regular practice will likly yield better results for less money; for now. Several with more experience than I have said the 7x is impractical for small boats due to motion. As strange as it seems the open sight tube might be more useful. The results are not far off those of the 3x scope and you don't have to wipe the ocean spray off.
