My Astra possibly has a shade arrangement that could use the drive keys. But that’s not on the tools included. All I have is a screwdriver and the square drive mirror tool.
Mine has a shaft with a “keyway” the entire length. The upper/inner end of the shaft is held with a pin through the shades mount. The opposite end has a nut with drive slots. There is no deep slot in the shade mount that would allow the nut to tighten down on the shade pivots.
I think that there is a washer between shades that has a key on the ID that engages the keyway in the shaft. This allows each shade to move, holds the washers, and does not try to turn the adjoining shades.
If the inner key is sheared, or worn, off, the shades would try to move together. If the shades and washers were worn beyond the ability of the nut to tighten them, the shades would not stay where they are placed.
