    Navigation always meant celestial or astronomical.  Piloting referred to onshore work, which was distinctly second class: there were many more pilots than navigators.

    It seems to prefer the term “off-shore navigation”, or just “navigation”. 

    Anyway, meant for professionals, but good books if you can find them.
