    It depends of what you mean by the "modern warfare".
    In the last naval encounter I remember, the Falcland war,
    the satellite navigation systems were not targets.
    
    It is hard for me to imagine a scenario when the GPS system
    will be targeted. It has to be a war of two superpowers...
    Or, perhaps the US can make GPS non-available, if the
    US is seriously attacked.
    
    BTW, does the US military still own the GPS satellites, or the
    system has been "privatised", as it happened to the Internet
    in the middle 1990-s?
