In addition was it astronomy that got you interested > in Cel Nav or was it Cel nav that got you interested in astronomy? > interesting question... to me they are separate hobbies, from different paths. cel nav for me comes from mathematics first, navigation second, marine operations third. observational astronomy for me comes from camping and general science interest. but I prefer to "do" astronomy and cosmology by reading indoors at bad viewing times like stormy winter evenings. for the record I have a 6" reflector and an Astra IIIB.
