It is my understanding that GPS time was 'turned on' in 1980 and has run continuously since. That is, there have been no interruptions for leap seconds, which puts it ahead of GMT by 16 seconds. Do cell phones and other devices which derive time from GPS satellites automatically compensate for these 16 seconds? Don Seltzer
