This just popped up in my news feed
"The officers and quartermasters are trained to use the computer-based program STELLA (System To Estimate Latitude and Longitude Astronomically), developed by George Kaplan of the U.S. Naval Observatory in the 1990s."
Nothing new to navlist members, just nice to see it in news (and George get a name check), but I am sure many of us have been wondering when cheaper smaller automated nav turrets will be availiable, and the discusion azimuth only fixes may be relevant too.
improvements in quantum accelerometers, quantum magnetometers and cameras might play a role.
