George, Excellent article indeed by Doefler ! Congratulations to its writer, and thank you George for mentioning it to our NavList Community. Antoine M. "Kermit" *** Couette *** *** Couette ***: by the way, same family as Maurice Couette, who worked on hydraulics (just google "couette flow"). He investigated a field under intensive research to-day ( e.g. http://documents.irevues.inist.fr/bitstream/handle/2042/16374/CFM2007-0040.pdf?sequence=1). Some of his research on fluids viscosity have (unexpectedly) been further studied in order to reduce cavitation around ship propellers (... back to Navigation at last !!!) He is (was) my great grandfather. One of his sons - my grand-father - married Marie Sperry, a lady closely related to Elmer Ambrose Sperry, well known inventor of a gyroscopic compass, which eliminated variations caused by the Earth's natural magnetism (back again to our current topic !!!) That's a small world ! :-)) ********** Goerge you wrote : Doefler has done serious homework here.
