Sam. I understand your frustration, but this is a seeing the wood from the trees situation. Just stop for a breather for the moment, forget formulas, and start afresh. The important thing is LHA has a direction to it; + is from east to west. So if start is 39.58N 100.00W and finish is 41.44N 099.50W, Chlong is 10’E and LHA, if you want to use the term, is not +10’; it’s 359.50 or -10’. Therefore, please post the actual longitudes. Below are a couple of diagrams to show how formulas for solving the PZX triangle can also be used to solve spherical Earth problems. Dave
