I enhanced the original driftsight view with a little digital trickery. :) That, and another hint below, should demonstrate that I found the spot. Took a while!
After I figured this out, I also tried the game --just now-- with all the major AI chatbots using the exact same prompt text (not other clues): "Can you identify the river or reservoir in this image?"
They all got it wrong... Some said "no, cannot identify it" and then offered various observations and descriptions. Those I count as good responses --"I don't know" is better than a hallucinated answer. A couple provided specific confident guesses, both amusing: the Somme in France... and the Mekong. No and no. One answer was in the right corner of the world but its very specific and overly confident identification was still wrong by hundreds of miles.
