The original post didn't mention that the shots were all on one body, that changes everything since you don't need the time to reset the sextant altitude and azimuth. He also didn't mention that this doesn't produce a fix, just a single averaged position line.
I did notice the latitude line marked on the horizontal scale to the left of the center for correcting for the motion body on his image (I put the same scale on my Polhemus and E-6B years ago) but didn't think that that line was anything to do with what he was talking about. These modifications are published in AFPAM 11-216.
