Backyard Sextant System

As a USMC Navigator (DC-3/4/C-130) and an airline Navigator (C-46, L-1049, DC-8), my backgroud supports your beliefs about celestial navigation. Trying to set up a backyard sextant system as a hobby & to enjoy the stars and plot a local fix or two/maybe more. Would like to get your advice on setting up a periscopic sextant & mount for the back-yard Navigator? I have a refurbrished USAF Kollsman Periscopic with manual; ?? Power supply/Hang mount are some of my questions?? Plan to join your group if invited. Would appreciate any help and/or advice you could offer.
