Though "Sextant" is not yet officially out here in the colonies, I managed to snag a bootleg copy, and had a delightful time reading it. It is a wonderful book, full of interesting details that even folks familiar with the history will find of interest. Of course hard-core celnav types will wish it had more of the technical nitty-gitty, and I imagine David wrestling with his editors to keep more of it in.
But the very best part of the book is at the end, where David shares his personal perspective on the esthetics of celnav. I won't spoil the surprise for readers, but there are some really evocative passages therein!
