That is my point - people can get themselves from A - B - C using GPS - but that isn't navigation - that is following an AI voice through a maze from A - B.
Unfortunately - these people then believe 'they can navigate' - butt once they don't have the voice controlled direction or arrowns on an electronic may they are dead in the water - helpless.
That young tramper, theoretically should have been able to 'navigate'his way out of his situation - he would have been proficient at using his GPS app on his phone - and hence - know basic navigation - but he didn't and walked himslef 10 km further into the mountain and problems.
My point - you have to be taught basic navigation theory - then put it in practice - and then practice it regularly to then be able to 'navigate' without GPS.
