I was simply pointing out that Plath had an identical version.
We are unlikely ever to know who had the idea first, but I would suggest that the Plath design pre-dates 1920. After all, they were producing their final, successful, version with the rack on the edge of the limb well before then and as far as any one knows, never patented it, presumably because they could see no originality in it. The design in my 1920 Plath looks distinctly archaic alongside their usual arrangement.
I personally can see no originality in Heath's version. In essence, it's no different from what is described in lines 11 to 15 of the application. It's just in a different plane.
