I've had very good service from an Astra iiiB. I do my shooting standing on the beach, or in the parking area at the apt complex where I reside, don't have a boat, and get sea sick in small sail boats. I had been especially well behaved at one point, some years ago, so I bought myself a nice gift, the Astra, later of an additional 7 x35mm scope. As I recall the Mdrchant Maring Academy, aka Kings Point uses the Astra. Check them out, you might find a good buy, who knows.
Re traveling, a few years ago, we visited a friend who lived in Maine, flying up and back. NOthing unusual on the flight up. On the return flight, the security lady at Bangor airport asked about the box I was carrying. When I told her it was a marine sextant, I got a blank look. I opened the box, so,she could see what was inside and all questions were answered. My 2 cents worth.
