Like Henry I counted 1 and 2 and 3.....
This worked well until interrupted by someone, or something, on the short walk to the chronometer. I then got a simple Omega mechanical stopwatch, which I could easily hold in my left hand, while also turning the micrometer screw with the free finger and thumb on the same hand.
