I was looking at celnav apps for Android and found the StarStruck Navigation app by a developer called Polyglotz. On its Google Play page, it showed an oddly familiar photo of a naval officer taking a sight:

It was oddly familiar because it was a photo that I've seen frequently used on websites to illustrate sextant use, only in this case the naval officer had been transformed from a woman to a man by the addition of a crudely photoshopped beard.

I'm certainly curious why someone would feel compelled to make that change, but for the moment I'm posting on the Navlist more just to see if anybody knew the source of the original photo.
