Hughes must have realised that there was about to become a sudden need for sextant knowledge. The book was updated and printed in 1938. I have the 1949 reprint of the 1938 edition. In 1938 he included a chapter on air sextants and shows photographs of not only the Hughes MkVIII but also a MkXII sextant, which I’ve never heard of before and which doesn’t appear online. Perhaps it was a Hughes prototype, which was never proceeded with, because the MKIX proved such a success. Has anyone else come across the air sextant MkXII. I’m not talking about the US Link A12 sextant. DaveP
