Greg asked about the sextants and rete mailing lists, asking- "Do you have a link for the Sextants mailing list? That one sounds interesting, but couldn't find anything on a Google search. And I assume that "rete" refers to the Museum of the History of Science list about the history of scientific instruments: (http://www.mhs.ox.ac.uk/rete/index.htm?text)?" ========================= The sextants list is at Sextants@yahoogroups.com . I no longer have any details about how to sign up. Traffic is very thin on it these days. It has a differtent emphasis to Nav-l, mainly catering for the interests of sextant collectors rather than users. It has been a good place to raise questions about authenticity, for example, but its members have avoided the technical stuff that many at Navlist go in for. Many Navlist members are signed up with the sextants list. Geg is right about the rete list. It seems mainly to operate as a link between curators of museums with a science-history bent. I find it useful, in that it reflects many of my own interests.
