Speaking of Latin, are there any English translations of Bessel's Latin works available?
And if anybody else is confused, Bessel produced two different refraction tables. The one that appears in some versious of Bowditch is from 1818, while the more complicated one Chauvenet preferred is from 1830. Chauvenet's Spherical Astronomy published the 1818 and 1830 tables right next to each other without mentioning they were unrelated...
