    Good morning Francis

Lovely to hear from you.  I wondered which David you were talking to, NavList being full of Davids.  Then I realised it was me from five years ago.  I’m afraid I’ve flitted around a bit since then and never did complete a Bygrave.  The RIN found the good one they'd lost in a cupboard, but I’ve not been to London for 18 months, because of the pandemic, so I’ve not had chance to examine it.  All this recent correspondence has got me thinking that I really ought to get on with making a Bygrave.

I’m afraid completing my activities have become like one of those telephone answering services where all the do is tell you where you are in the queue, and I’m afraid a Bygrave is fairly low down in the queue.  Number one priority this week is making space in the bike shed.  I’ve given away my mountain bike and we’re just keeping my wife’s Raleigh Whisp and my Ernie Clements with the lugless frame.  I doubt it was the one he rode in the 1948 Olympics, but I tell anyone admiring it it is.   I’m currently reassembling the brakes on our Armstrong Moth, remember those, and that will go to Brough with a Far-Eastern bike I rescued from a rubbish skip and rebuilt, so we’ve got something to ride when we visit TIKI.  DaveP
