Bright planet near the Moon tonight

I saw a unique sight in tonight's sky, directly above the moon today there was a bright light and upon further examination, in that the object didn't blink or move relative to my movements I concluded it to be a planet, and could this be Jupiter in "transit" with our beloved satellite?
