    Greg:

If I'm understanding the question, the following method seems to work well enough with shots of sun, moon and stars. One fist in the vertical equals approximately 10 degrees. Count the number of fist heights to the body, say 3 fists equaling 30 degrees. Set sextant go that angle and find the body in sextant scope. Usually have to adjust a little, but this seems a quick, workable approach to bringing the body down to the horizon.
