Thank you for your reply ; so, it is possible that the subject of the pamphlet of 1867 is the same that the famous "cloudy weather" (1880 ?)
But it is interresting to compare the "double chronometer" method with the method of Pagel, published in France in 1847 : in my opinion, the method is the same, but Pagel dont speak of position line ...
Few french authors (as Ledieu) consider Johnson as the father of the "longitude method" for the position line, but it seems that the idea was giving by H Raper (1844).
