Hello Frank,
Following your comments about the C.Plath sextant withoout a micrometer vernier scale, it looks like most of the sextants of those times, regardless the manufactuturer and country, did not include that feature.
The exception would be the Henry & Hughes (1944) which has a micrometer's scale in seconds of a degree.
From my personal collection, below are pictures of some sextants without micrometers. All these sextants are in working conditions and I never had a problem in visually estimating the minute's decimal point.
