Greg, Just curious: how did you produce your star chart of the stars near the martian north celestial pole? It's not from Stellarium (is it?) which I had suggested previously. Which astronomy software app do you use? For completeness, here's a star chart of the martian south celestial pole. Unlike here on Earth, where there is no star brighter than magnitude 5.0 within 5° of the south celestial pole, on Mars, there are five stars about the same brightness as our Polaris within 5° of the south pole. This one is just a screen capture from Stellarium with colors inverted and then switched to grey scale. Kappa Velorum, the star closest to the south celestial pole, is highlighted.
