Thank you David! What a wonderful tutorial on the bubble sextant (and your accompanying Figs. are exquisite) and what a beautiful boat! And Humber, as one of 30 different defined sea regions around England? I just last night came across the name (if it is the same place) while being introduced to the world famous BBC Shipping Forecasts (first broadcast in 1924, and ever since, except during WW II)...that I had never heard of. And because of the Shipping Forecast most people in the United Kingdom know the name Francis Beaufort and "Sailing By"? (I'm re-reading Scott Huler's book "Defining the Wind: the Beaufort scale and how the 19th century Admiral turned science into poetry." It's a hoot and very interesting. Beaufort was quite a character...we shall skip over his sister Harriet.
Our official sailing season begins April 1st. I haven't been out on the local Reston lakes for 2 years because of Covid. I'm anxious to get my little Laser Pico out again. (And maybe even my 15' Precision as well, although it is not as much fun.)
