Strangely, my CP-300/U came with 9 (nine) removable disks: 5°, ... 85°.
Those are the same 9 disks used on the 2102D, with one minor exception. The CP-300/U permits sliding the overlays +/- 5°. Note that the azimuthal equidistant overlays do NOT change shape as they should when we adjust for latitude.
Since the shape doesn't change, but the latitude does, we will get a different but not necessarily more correct answer. This design provides the feeling of improvement without actually providing the improvement.
Frankly speaking, the CP-300/U screams inter-service rivalry between the US Navy and the US Airforce. The Airforce could not possibly use the Navy device, when they could make a "better one". There are many instances of such practices and this device has all of those hallmarks on it.
