Dear Ed,
Inspired by your CP-300/U overview I decided to buy one.
Now, with the device in my hands, I'm puzzled. Either those who developed it were NOT practical navigators, or my expectations of user-friendliness|conveniences differ greatly from the then common practices.
- why the movable bases are marked with RA - not with SHA?
- why there is no ecliptic on either base?
- what is the "fat" black arrow on the U-shaped clamp for?
The lack of adequate documentation and (convenient) means to place Sun/Moon/planets on the disks was already mentioned.
Strangely, my CP-300/U came with 9 (nine) removable disks: 5°, 15°, 25°, 35°, 45°, 55°, 65°, 75° and 85° latitudes. Was it a typo in the documentation?
Now I'm looking to buy a 2102-D - hoping if it is better.
Warm regards,
Tony
