    These formulae refer to great circles on a sphere, and I was wondering where you might ever use them with a range and a bearing to find a lat & long.  The bearing referred to could only be the initial bearing, and further heading changes would be required enroute.  Completing great circle sailings and flights adds complication and is of little advantage except over large distances and/or above 60n/s.   All I can think of for now is calculating where a rocket might land, or a directional radio signal might reach.
