We bought a bunch of large (4” x 6”) packages from Uline, but then cut them open & dumped them out into the casserole dish. The silica gel particles are roughly spherical & glass like - about 1/16” or so. They are easy to work with & don’t get all over the place.
The cool thing about using this stuff is that you don’t have to open up the phone or calculator for it to work. It just sucks the moisture out of the devices through the small holes & joints in the casing.
