Thanks Sean,
That is a relief. I love books, even obsolete editions. The almanac 2013 is safe.

Once, I accidentally dropped my old Motorola "Star-Tac" cell phone in the toilet. (Thankfully after I had flushed it!) I didn't realize it until about 15 minutes later. I retrieved it and, of course, it didn't work...immediately. After a couple of days sitting on some paper towels, it actually turned on and was able to make calls. As I recall, the only problem was that the volume of the speaker was permanently reduced. I bought a new phone anyway just because...ew. ;)
And Francis, spare your 2013 Almanac. As David found out, books can be rescued (sometimes, anyway). I had a German-English dictionary in my backpack once which I accidentally set down in a puddle of water. The dictionary was about half soaked through. It inflated to roughly 1.5 times its original size where the water had been absorbed, but it was still usable for the most part. The odd page here and there were stuck together, but with a lot of patience, even those could be teased apart.
Regards,
Sean C.
