Calibrating sextant inland

All instructions I've seen regarding calibrating a sextant makes use of an actual sea horizon.
I wonder what the best way to calibrate (that is adjusting the mirrors) is when you are on land.
Would it work to set the sextant to 0.00, look at the sun or moon and then adjust the mirrors so that I see just one complete image of the sun/moon?
