In response to finding Polaris in the daytime; personally, after many attempts at finding it in the daytime... I thought it might be a "technical joke". For me, finding Polaris in the daytime was more of an optical brain tease. I had no mental image of what a star would look like with a daytime blue background. The first time I saw daytime Polaris it was a very tiny white pinpoint, my eyeball basically tripped over it. My general latitude is 33.5 degrees, which is right on the cusp convenient viewing with a theodolite. Any latitude higher than that would be extremely awkward/impossible without a diagonal eyepiece.
