I had the idea, for a while, to embed a list of all navigation stars, together
with some clues that would aid their identification in the sky, into a rythmic
rhymed verse. After all, if a catalogue of ships can be made into an epic, why
not catalogue of stars?
When it comes to poetry, 'moon' and 'June' is the pinnacle of my rhyming
abilities, so this project was way out of my reach. Luckily, the recently
emereged tools may make it less daunting, at least to try.
This is the very first draft, an attempt to prompt chatgpt with minimal
selection and editing. It is obviously somewhat repetitive and cliche (and I
still have all the admiration and respect to how much it is better than
anything that I could have come up with on my own), its primary purpose is to
convey information, which it does.
In general, use of mnemonic devices, such as poetry, to traditional skills,
specifically, navigation, is of great interest to me. I would appreciate
your comments and thoughts on that matter.
