    Got 'em Bill

Many thanks. A picture truly is worth a thousand words. Now I have some good ideas to work on.

I was toying with the idea of screwing a section of 1" dowling to the inside of the lid but I am reluctant to drill a hole in my precious sextant case lest it compromise its water tightness. Once the hole is drilled, there is no turning back. I think it is better to steer towards modifying the foam liner in the lid.

On that note, can anyone suggest a good glue for the type of plastic that this case is made from?  It is pretty tough to get anything to stick to this material.

I am wondering if Ken from Celestaire has considered such modifications -- ie, having a special insert for the foam piece on the lid -- as he has a pipeline to the manufacturer. It really does make more sense to secure the sextant in the case via pressure on the frame than on the horizon mirror housing. It is possible, however, that the market for such a modification is so small that the costs would be prohibitave.

    Ken, any comments?

    Robert
