Potential “Astro” navigators in the RN are given a lead-in session in the Planetarium at Chichester, England. Before lockdown, I was able to assist. Funny how technology evolves. Nearly 6 decades ago I was teaching the RN how to fly Vampire jet fighters.  Brian Walton

Good gracious Brian.  Do the RN Navs still do that trip?  We did that trip from Gaydon in back in 1967 or 68.  It was somewhere important, I can’t remember where, in morning, the Law Courts in the afternoon, and the London Planetarium just after they shut in the evening.  It was all part of our general education.  Another time they took us down a working coal mine with a paddy train, blokes hewing coal, and a shower afterwards, not a museum coal mine.
