Miss a possibility to [...] pause it. Say you want to revisit a particular "slide". And contemplate it. In the present form, you first have to wait for this slide to appear. Just to have it disappear some seconds later.

I agree, this is an unfortunate limitation of the .gif format. However I did find a Firefox plugin which allows you to pause and jump to the beginning of a gif. You can also set it to only play gifs on hover and more. There is also a version for Chrome, but I don't use Chrome so I can't recommend it. The Firefox version is great, though. I will most likely recommend these plugins in any accompanying text. Thanks for the feedback and kind words!
