I have my phone set up to beep out SOS whenever anything happens in the NavList online infrastructure that requires my attention. For example, last night there was a 10-minute outage since the servers get re-booted on the second Wednesday of every month. My phone yelled "SOS" several times while I was in a restaurant. I shut off the volume, but not before I heard two people separately say to their friends "that's SOS". Perhaps one person in 50,000 knows the full Morse code alphabet, but probably one in five recognizes SOS. It does indeed "jump out at you".
