No. Even though an Enigma along with the keying tables were captured on the U-505 it did not contribute to the code breaking at Bletchley park since they had already recovered all ot that through prior code breaking. In, fact, Commander Gallery was criticized for the capture because it was feared that the Germans would find out about the capture and change their codes. So, instead of towing the U-505 to nearby Dakar (where there were spies) the sub was taken under tow by the carrier and towed all the way to Bermuda. And the crew was kept from other POWs and denied the right to send cards home to report being alive and captured so that the German government would believe that the sub was sunk with all hands so no opportunity to capture the codes. (This was a violation of the Geneva Convention which required notification to family who didn't know that their family members has survived.) Go to Chicago and visit the U-505 at the Museum of Science and Industry. Get there early since the tours sell out. I was raised about a mile from there and crawled through the U-505 many times including forbidden zones.
