I'm drawn to examples of celestial navigation in movies. Some examples:
Good - Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World a 2003 starring Russell Crowe as Jack Aubrey, excellent LAN shots while instructing young midshipmen.
A nice touch in this scene is the variety of instruments used. The younger midshipmen were learning with octants, while the older mids and master mates were using more expensive sextants.
If one were to dig deep to nitpick, one might observe that the noon sun should have been behind them as they were sailing south, in the southern hemisphere, in May.
