I've been invited to conduct a three-day workshop for a group in London, June 10, 11, 12, on 19th-century navigation methods and lunars. This workshop is not open to the public. They are covering my travel expenses.
I would like to try to run another class or two, open to anyone, the weekend before (June 6-7) or the weekend after (Jun 13-14), or better yet both. I'm looking for ideas for partner institutions --museums, sailing organizations, schools, etc.-- that could publicize classes well enough to draw between ten and twenty students and that could provide a classroom facility, preferably close to the sea for sights. You can check on my standard class offerings on my website. The three most popular (and unique) offerings are "Modern Celestial Navigation", "Celestial Navigation in the Age of Sail", and "Lunars: Finding Longitude by Lunar Distances". Please contact me by email Frank[at]ReedNavigation.com if you have any ideas. I would also consider a class within four hours travel time from London if expenses are covered, potentially including other parts of the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands.
