Here's a "Mars Local Time" puzzle. In the photo below, it should be possible to determine three things from the shadows of the rocks:
- The approximate local hour angle of the Sun, and given that it's reported that the image was taken in AM hours, the approximate local time follows.
- The approximate location of the Sun relative to the photo.
- The approximate angular field of view. The shadows are parallel to each other in the real scene, but in the image they're not.
